Surekha Krishnan began her training in Bharata Natyam at the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, where she performed in a range of traditional, folk, and contemporary works in Malaysia before emigrating to Australia in 2012.
Her first performance experience in Australia was with the Australian Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble and Yellow Wheel, under the direction of Adam Wheeler. 
In 2015, Surekha completed her Diploma in Dance at Transit Dance, Melbourne, and participated in the Transit International Professional Pathway Program (Tr.IPP), led by choreographer Israel Aloni. 
Since graduating, she has collaborated with notable Australian choreographers, including Melanie Lane in Jagad (2022) and Stephanie Lake Company in the inaugural cast of Colossus (2018), which was remounted for the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2019.
Other significant collaborations include Graham Adey, Chris Evans, Adrien Tucker and Damian Meredith. 
In 2024, Surekha expanded her artistic horizons during a residency in Goa, India, where she collaborated with artists from over 20 countries and performed her own solo work. She worked alongside prominent figures such as Navala Chaudhari, Marso Riviere, Vittoria De Ferrari, Alvaro Esteban, and Kevin Turner.
Surekha is an RYS 200hr certified Hatha, Ashtanga and flow yoga teacher, with experience teaching In Varkala, India where she completed her yoga and Ayurveda certification. 
In addition to her dance career, Surekha is an accomplished designer and photographer. She has collaborated with Archie Rose Distilling Co., Fever-Tree Australia, Adrien Tucker, Jennifer Ma, Black Pearl, Stomping Ground Brewing Co., Melbourne Cocktail Festival and Homegrown Drinks.
Surekha  is dedicated to exploring the intersection of dance and visual arts, enriching the cultural landscape with her innovative artistic voice.
